Meet our new carrier manager Floortje Helwig

Floortje started at Bulkio in January 2023. Prior to starting here, she acquired extensive business knowledge by working in various locations around the world as a business developer in the B2B market. In this position, she worked throughout Europe, the Middle East and North Africa and dealt with the logistical aspects of getting products to the customer’s destination, as well as dealing with sales, demand and supply of business partners.She also fulfilled the function of carrier manager at Bulkio, but found more passion in business development.

What attracted Floortje to the transport sector was not only the function but also the mission of Bulkio. “I immediately knew that my previous experience in international B2B market development and procurement would make me an asset to Bulkio”, says Floortje. These experiences are useful for Bulkio because they will help to improve and increase collaboration with Bulkio users as well as create mutually beneficial relationships.

Mutual benefit
Floortje is excited about her new job: “My mission is to further build on the vision of reducing the environmental impact of road transport and increasing the efficiency of existing assets. This will enable us to create economical profit with road transport companies.” Bulkio’s vision is a good example of how companies can attain sustainable targets and profit at the same time. As business development manager, Floortje always tries to stay ahead of the curve. “I work proactively through forecasting, i.e. by knowing the supply and demand effects in the market as well as the trends. If you do not stay ahead of the curve, you get left behind.”

Never a dull moment
Getting to know Bulkio is going well, according to Floortje: “It’s a very dynamic and hands-on business. I personally love this aspect. There is never a dull moment with the changes and influences in this market. Which results in some challenges. During my previous job, I dealt with far fewer business contacts and relations. Bulkio has more than 1,000 carriers on its platform and I hope to be able to help this to keep growing. But it will definitely be a challenge to remember everyone’s name but it is a challenge I am very willing and able to tackle.”
